Style Bistro

"Another collection of note was that of Birmingham’s Rachel Cogley who looks on course to be a welcome addition to the House of Holland/Giles/Jeremy Scott crew of cheeky high-jinx. She showed a humorous shaggy Afghan hound dog bag."

Fashion For Lunch

"Rachel Cogley of Birmingham City designed some innovative jackets too. The last look is particularly memorable – it tends to spark that question of the extent to which most runway looks are genuinely wearable but hey, the abundance of hair just looks so awesome!"

The Coterie News

"The graduate with a BA in Fashion won over the judges with her inventive clutch bag that judge Emma Hill, creative director at Mulberry, described at the awards ceremony as a must-have!
We loved… the pooch purse from Birmingham City University’s Rachel Cogley"

NXG Magazine

"Other more flamboyant graduates from the gala included Birmingham City graduate Rachel Cogley, whose collection was, hair-raising to say the least. Rachel's collection focused on fur, feathers and masses of acrylic hair. She managed to create a surreal experience for the spectators as her models sauntered down the catwalk to Cat Stevens' I Love My Dog. It's a good thing Lydia left Mr Darcy at home, otherwise he may have been stuffed, stitched and made into a handbag before you could say “Shut-up!”

Patrick Grant's reviews on Vogue.com

"Rachel Cogley's 'insane Afghan hound, brilliant idea of poking fun at the stupidity of people trying to make themselves look attractive - with their fake tan - but just looking foolish' collection that stood out."

Idol Magazine

'The collection which stole the show, and became the most talked about was definitely that by Rachel Cogley, from Birmingham University. Cogley's stand-out piece was a dog-shaped handbag made out of hair. Other pieces of the collection features fur coats with over-sized sleeves and feathered capes. A very innovative and extravagant collection, it sure to catch on with the cool fashionistas soon, so look out for the name Cogley popping out everywhere any day now.'

Favourite Pic

Just found this picture and it is one of my favourites so far from LHF photography.

'The Itt girl'

I really enjoy my work being viewed in the humour that it was intended especially this headline...although I am not quite sure where it was published I found it on twitter.

In case u can't read it it says
"If cousin Itt and Paris Hilton had a love child this would be the result..."

A little mention in The Guardian

I was excited to see my name along with fellow designers Isla Skelton and Paris Hawkins-Carr in the Guardians 'Top ten GFW moments' with my Redsetter inspired looped jumper and emerald swarovski crystal collar waiting on the rail for their moment on the catwalk.

"The Birmingham City University crowd seemed to be going with their animal instincts. Paris Hawkins-Carr's taxidermy created a showstopping spectacle (bottom and right), along with Rachel Cogley's fur-and-hair creations (top) and an Isla Skelton collection featuring rubber ducks (not pictured)" by Rachel Hannaway

Coco's Tea Party Review

I love to hear reviews to see how people see my designs...

"The collection that received the biggest reaction was by Rachel Cogley, from Birmingham University. The standout piece was definitely the dog-shaped-handbag made from hair, which was weird but amazing at the same time. Lydia from The Only Way Is Essex was watching the show and was tweeting about Rachel's collection, so don't be surprised if you seen her waltzing around Sugar Hut with a hairy handbag in the next few weeks. The white chubby coat, worn with a bikini, also caught my attention - reminding me of the good old Jennifer Lopez bling-tastic days."

Have a little look...

Official GFW2011

Own Label

Melanie Hick
"Rachel Cogley's afghan hound bag at #gfw is the new Mulberry pooch, Brix pug, Giles doggy bag and Erdem print pup"

Lydia from 'The only way is Essex'

"Show stopping' (along with this picture of my collection)

At the after show party I then got to meet Lydia who is just as gorgeous in real life and true to character made the comment 'How did you get the models hair to match the Afghan dog?'

Lydia was there along with her mum who was just as funny as she is on TV, and who I had a quick picture with.

Catwalk time!

Inspiration

So I thought I better start off with my inspiration, and to make sure nobody thinks I'm just some crazy dog lover, although I do love do love dogs more these days!

The idea originally came from attraction and how we react to what we are attracted to...like people who look like their dogs, and the more tanned someone is the more attractive they feel.

London Graduate Fashion Week

Just got back from GFW after being nominated for the Gold award along with 9 others where the prize was £20,000! Although I didn't win i was really happy with the response I have received, and the reviews I have had, so I thought I would pop some of this along with my work on here, and so the blog begins...
